James “Buster” Brown called Heather Cornell “one of the best tap teachers in the world”. She is an internationally renowned tap soloist and teacher, who has been credited for pioneering a new style of tap choreography for the concert stage. She has also revolutionized the way that tap dance is being taught today, teaching tap dance for what it truly is: a music/dance form. The blend of original material from her mentors, the development of her own style of concert tap, and her extensive work in collaboration with world class musicians results in a teaching style that is rich with tradition, experience, musicality and inspiration.
Heather has been teaching internationally since 1988 and, spending about a third of every season on tour, she is well known on many continents. She has mentored artists around the world in theater, music and dance as a director, choreographer and teacher. She also ran a training program for her company Manhattan Tap for 10 years and many of the leading dancers in the tap world started there: Max Pollack, Roxanne “Butterfly, Jeannie Hill, Michael Minery and Guillem Alonso.
Book Heather for a residency, master class, workshop, choreography, or any aspect of training in physical music.
